PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Elizabeth Elkington joins Carr Butterfield with an extensive litigation background. As a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Judge Patricia McGuire, Elizabeth spent many hours in the court room as well as drafting legal opinions and judgments. Now, in private practice, Elizabeth continues to build upon those skills and has become a fierce litigator. Elizabeth believes that every case is unique and attempts to create creative solutions to reach resolution. In addition to her court room experience, Elizabeth has worked in amicable resolution of cases through alternative dispute resolution including arbitrations, mediations, and direct settlement negotiations.
When working on transactional matters, Elizabeth enjoys crafting a wide range of contractual agreements. Through her litigation practice, Elizabeth has learned the nuances of contract drafting and the potential legal issues that arise from drafted agreements. This insight allows for carefully crafted legal language that will aid in limiting future disputes.
As a former Legal Operations Manager for a midsized law firm and as a small business owner herself, Elizabeth understands all the elements of running and managing a successful business. She has worked on business formation, business strategy and management, business policies and procedures, import and export compliance, labor and employment matters, land use, agricultural compliance, and domestic relations matters. Elizabeth’s extensive background and expertise provides thoughtful guidance in a wide range of legal areas in order to meet her clients’ unique needs.
Elizabeth is admitted to practice law in Oregon. When she is not practicing, she enjoys working on her farm, restoring and importing classic vehicles, water skiing with her family, running, and yoga.
